Art Teacher Repurposed

These lamps are a result of years of art teaching.  My lesson plans are illustrated and tell a story about what my day in the classroom was like. They were too beautiful and precious to throw away. I cut them into strips and added leftover art projects from student artists. They are layered on paper globe lanterns and wired with electric lights to illuminate the color and plan of each year.

These images just pop out of the paper with no pre drawing. They evolve from an idea in my head and are transferred to the paper as I cut.

I have been a painter for years. My husband and I love to go to live music so often the subject matter is the musicians I have seen or a memory they provided. I work in acrylic and often paper collage.
